While you’re strolling the streets, keep an eye out for the paintings of local legend Earl Swaniga, often featured in shop windows, which feature animals in people clothes. Appreciating the beauty of Hudson requires seeing it with your own eyes. While ambling local streets like Allen and Union, be sure to check out the incredibly ornate historic homes that line the blocks. Back on Warren, the main drag, the local galleries are places to discover the work of artists both established and emerging.
Beautiful hikes, lakes, and waterfalls are never far away when you’re in Hudson. Stop by Provisions on Warren to for picnicking supplies, hop in a car, and buzz to Bash Bish Falls for a challenging climb and incredible view. Or head to the Olana Historic Site, a magnificent Victorian era mansion that was once the home to painter Frederic Edwin Church.
